How to prepare for your appointment
Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment.
Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved.
No sun-tanning or self-tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment including spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, sun exposure, etc.
Avoid skin irritants ( examples below) a few days before and after treatment.
Products containing tretinoin, retinal, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin c/absorbic acid, astringents, etc.
Notify the clinic of any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment.
History of herpes or cold sore may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
• The treatment should take approximately 30 minutes.
• Numbing is required.
Secret RF is an easy, safe and effective procedure that can be performed in a quick, 15-minute treatment session. During the treatment, you will feel a slight heating and some pressure on the treatment area. For most patients, the treatment is tolerable but your physician will work with you to maximize your comfort level. Prior to the procedure, your provider will apply a numb- ing cream to the treatment area to increase comfort during the treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT
After the treatment, an ointment will be applied to the skin and you will be asked to refrain from wearing makeup for several hours. Any minor redness or swelling resulting from treatment will subside within 12-24 hours. After the treatment, you can expect to return to normal activities.
Immediately post-treatment, apply gauze soaked in isotonic saline solution to the treatment area and let sit for 5-15 minutes.
After the saline solution soak, apply a post-procedure barrier ointment such as Vaseline, Aquafor, etc.
Wait at least 4 hours before washing your face or applying soap, cream, or makeup to the treatment area.
Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage.
Avoid heat - hot tubs, saunas, etc. for 1-2 days.
Avoid skin irritants a few days before and after treatment: Products containing tretinoin, retinal, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin c/absorbic acid, astringents, etc.
Bruising, redness, and swelling may occur and resolve with time. More aggressive treatments or the use of irritants in the days prior to or after treatment can lead to longer downtime.
Multiple treatments may be required.
Notify the clinic of concerns (blistering, excessive redness/swelling, etc.)
Consult with your provider about when to resume the skin-care regime.

How many treatments will I need?
Patients typically need 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. Most patients report seeing improve- ment after the second treatment however results are optimized 3 months after the last treatment.
